Health Protocols
All students must comply with vaccination requirements by the University, state, and the United States government. Currently No COVID-19 vaccine requirements are in place for residential programs taking place at Yale University and UC Berkeley.
However, due to the dynamic nature of the COVID-19 and the isolation policies, that necessitates a mandatory five (5)-day isolation period if tested positive, being vaccinated is strongly encouraged.
To mitigate the risk of students being sent home due to a positive COVID-19 diagnosis and the impracticality of isolating for five days during the in-person program, a negative COVID test is required before entering the campus. Additionally, all students must be asymptomatic for illness, including COVID-19, when traveling to campus, and they are obligated to submit proof of a negative COVID test within 24 hours of arrival. An acceptable option for the test is an antigen “at-home” rapid test. This requirement applies either before boarding the group flight or prior to arriving at the campus.
If Yale university and UC Berkeley´s isolation mandate are relaxed by June & July 2024, (for example, if asymptomatic students could still participate while wearing a mask), then a negative covid test could potentially not be required.
If a student presents any serious illness or tests positive for covid at any point of the program or can´t stay on campus for any reason, they will be required to be picked up by their families within 48 hours.
If they test positive, they will also be required to isolate following university policies, while they wait for their parents to pick them up. During this time students will have staff supervision and meals.
Eduexplora and its university partners reserve the right to adjust COVID and other health and safety policies as circumstances warrant.
In regards to students medical information, parents will be required to provide all relevant information regarding the student´s emotional and physical well-being and to disclose any medical, psychological, or emotional conditions, including medications, for the duration of the program. The disclosure is essential for Eduexplora to make necessary accommodations and ensure the student´s successful experience. Failure to provide important medical details, including counseling history or behavior modification medication use in the past 24 months, may result in dismissal from the program. If terminated, the student will be sent home, and the parent or guardian will be notified accordingly.
If a student gets sick or injured, they will be escorted by a chaperone or staff to the nearest medical facility or to the one assigned by their insurance and parents will be notified. Parents or legal guardians are responsible for any costs incurred, including transportation to the medical facility.
Students that do not meet federal, state, university, or any legal requirements such as valid visa, valid passport, negative covid test, etc. will not be able to participate in the programs and refunds will not be issued.
Students that test positive during the program will be required to isolate.
